DARUSO Give HESLB 72 Hours Allocate Loan , DARUSO, HESLB Loan Allocations
The student government of the University of Dar es Salaam (DARUSO) in Tanzania has given 72 hours to the Higher Student Loans Board (HESLB) to provide loans to students who have missed, otherwise students will meet outside the board offices located in Mwenge Dar es Salaam December 19, 2019.
A statement issued on Sunday, December 15, 2019 by Daruso's Minister for Information and Communication, Judith Mariki said they reached the decision after a challenge to the lack of first-year student loans since the college opened with some students continuing to reduce their funding.
Mariki said after extensive monitoring and negotiation efforts hit the reef, the government had conducted internal consultations that included the three pillars of the government.
"Daruso offers 72 hours to HESLB as it has raised credit allocations for college students since the college opened without funding, but it is a valid contract and there is no reason for them to suffer," said DARUSO.
DARUSO has also called on HESLB to recoup deductions for textbooks, practical training and research.
"It has given loans to first-year students whose appeals have been dismissed while they are in need," said Daruso demanding that the college's loan officer be replaced.
DARUSO added, "Students are well-tolerated and talks are well done, false promises have been given to us enough, so if 72 hours ends without all these things being done together, Daruso should meet outside loan officer office to HESLB."
