Chemonics International Inc., a US-based international development consulting firm is accepting expressions of interest from qualified professionals for the chief of party position for an anticipated USAID-funded Tanzania Community Social Welfare Systems Strengthening (CSWSS) project. This activity will be the follow-on to the current Tanzania Community Health and Social Welfare Systems Strengthening Project (CHSSP).
The project aims to strengthen community health and social service systems to improve health, well-being, and protection outcomes for HIV affected populations in Tanzania by creating more accessible and higher quality health and social services in targeted communities.

Job Position: Chief of Party
Responsibilities include:
• Provide leadership, technical direction, and oversight for all project activities and results
• Serve as key liaison with USAID, the government of Tanzania, project stakeholders, and counterparts in the public and private sectors
• Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors
• Ensure project assistance is technically sound and appropriate, meeting planned targets and the timely completion of deliverables as well as ensuring compliance with USAID regulations and Chemonics` policies
• Collaboratively create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision
• Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree or higher in Public Health, Medicine or Social Work
• Minimum 10 years of relevant development experience designing, implementing, and managing USAID or other donor-funded health programs of similar size, scope and complexity
• Proven success managing family health and social work programs with strong technical knowledge of HIV/AIDS, case management, TB, and malaria.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with local government stakeholders, international donors, and local partners at national and sub-national levels; track record of building capacity of local partners
• Experience in monitoring and evaluation, data management, and knowledge sharing
• Experience working closely with multidisciplinary teams in developing countries
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate a strategic vision
• Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
• Experience as Chief of Party on a donor-funded project in Tanzania preferred

Qualifications for technical specialists:

- Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience in fields required for successful implementation of this anticipated activity
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with the Government of Tanzania, civil society stakeholders, and partner organizations
- Experience with USAID or other international donors locally preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills required
