JOB TITLE: COMMUNITY HEALTH SUPERVISORS (4) POSITIONS
- Reports to RCH Officer
Job Summary
The Community Health Supervisor will supervise the day-to-day implementation of community-based activities of Health Information Teams (HITs) under the leadership of Reproductive Child Health Officer (RCH Officer). The supervisors will support RCH Officer in the liaison of all community activities, and community to health facilities referrals. He/she will provide technical assistance in planning and implementation of HIT trainings in close consultation with RCH Officer. He/she will support and guide project implementation in accordance with policies of the Ministry of Health and MTI and provide feedback to line manager on a monthly basis or as required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide supportive supervision, coaching, and mentoring of all HITs and ensure that they develop weekly/monthly work plans under the leadership of RCHO
- Serve as technical assistant or support to referral facilities when necessary.
- Know and understand the project community health indicators as well as monitor those indicators.
- If relevant, ensure that community supplies for HITs are timely procured and distributed to avoid potential stock-out.
- Take advantage and participate in related community level meetings during implementation under the guidance of RCHO
- Address attitudes towards best practices and strengthen social support and care seeking measures.
- Under the guidance of RCHO, organize regular meetings with HITs to promulgate Disease Prevention Messages and rehearse/refresh them on their role regarding prevention of leading morbidity in the community.
- Promote national preventive (eg. Vaccination) campaigns where feasible.
- Delegate some responsibilities to appropriate HIT team leaders to act.
- Support RCHO in writing monthly reports on all activities including meetings of communities, trainings conducted or attended, and a summary of HITs reports.
- Ensures direct reports have the logistics and stationary supplies needed to perform their work
- Collect and review reporting forms weekly, ensuring quality data is being received
- Conduct daily and weekly trainings and refreshers on health messaging priorities
- Provide supportive supervision visits to at least 10 HITs every week
- Conduct spot checks on household understanding of messages following household visits weekly
- Assess security situation and adapt plans, give staff updates as needed
- Attend and represent HIT program in camp coordination meetings, using information to set priority messaging for HITs
- Support safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS
- Diploma in Public Health, Social Sciences or Community Development
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or Community Development
EXPERIENCE
- Community work experience with an International NGO
- Minimum 2 years of experience in data capture is required
- Experience working in a health setting and with HIS/HMIS is an added advantage
- Experience working with international NGOs is an added advantage

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
This position requires work at health facilities located in remote areas with very basic living conditions.
