Mbeya University of Science and Technology invites applications from suitably and competent persons to fill vacancies that exist in the Directorate of Estate and Technical Services at the University on Contract basis.
1. ESTATE OFFICER (Quantity Surveyor) (1 POST)
1.1. Qualifications
- Holder of Bachelor Degree in Building Economics from recognized institution.
1.2. Key Responsibilities
i. Ensures maintenance and cleaning of University properties and environment
ii. Examines bills of quantities
iii. Prepares work schedules
iv. Prepares budget for maintenance works
v. Participates in drawing-up short and long term programmes for the general improvement of the landscaping of the campus grounds and drainage systems
vi. Keeps and maintains relevant equipment in good working order
vii. Assists in innovative approaches to conditioning, maintaining, and upgrading the built and un-built environment
viii. Assists in the planning, organizing, implementing and controlling of Estate activities and services
ix. Performs any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
1.3. Salary Scale: PGSS 7.
1.4. Tenure Contract
- Successful candidates shall hold the office for One (01) Year and may be renewed upon satisfactory service.
2. TECHNICIAN II (CIVIL) (2 POST)
2.1 Qualifications
- Holder of Ordinary Diploma (NTA 6) in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions.
2.2 Key Responsibilities
i. Assists in the repair and maintenance of College facilities;
ii. Conducts routine repair and regular maintenance of equipment in the College.
iii. Assists in production of facilities for students projects and practical research and consultancy work under close supervision of laboratory scientists and academic staff
iv. Implements specified maintenance plans for College facilities;
v. Implements specified technical plans and designs connected with repair and maintenance work;
vi. Performs any other duties assigned to him by his seniors.
2.3 Salary Scale: PUSS 3
2.4 Tenure Contract
- Successful candidates shall hold the office for One (01) Year and may be renewed upon satisfactory service.
3. ARTISAN II (MASONRY-2 AND PLUMBER-1) (3 POST)
3.1 Qualifications:
- Holder of Form IV or Form VI certificate with Trade Test Grade I/Level III in Masonry, Plumbing or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions.
3.2 Key Responsibilities
i. Performs specified craft jobs under supervision
ii. Performs routine technical cleaning of the work environment.
iii. Takes care of tools and equipment.
iv. Assists in operational repairs of machinery, facilities, buildings and infrastructure
v. Report maintenance problems to senior staff
vi. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Supervisor.
3.3 Salary Scale: PGSS 3
3.4 TENURE Contract
- Successful candidates shall hold the office for One (01) Year and may be renewed upon satisfactory service.
